The Magic Beans Play Palindrome & Michael Jackson Sets At 9,000 Feet

first_imgThe Magic Beans returned to the place of their conception this past weekend, playing an unforgettable show in the mountains to close out their fall tour. Nederland, CO is a town that sits 20min west of Boulder at 9,000 feet above sea level. It’s best known for being home to bands such as String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, and Yonder Mountain String Band as well as its quirky yearly event, Frozen Dead Guy Days. Ned’s rich musical history has prompted the creation of a beautiful new venue, The Caribou Room.The Beans helped break in this new hometown spot with a packed, two-set show featuring Amoramora as support. The first set included a huge palindrome song sandwich and a very appropriate set closing “We Are Family” cover featuring Rachel Hollingsworth on vocals. The second set featured fan favorite bustouts like “Pizza Baby” and non-stop music segued from first song to last. Full Cast Set for Anastasia on Broadway

first_img The complete cast is now set for Anastasia on Broadway. The new musical, directed by Tony winner Darko Tresnjak and inspired by the 1997 animated film of the same name, will begin performances on March 23 at the Broadhurst Theatre.As previously announced, the new musical will star Christy Altomare in the title role, Derek Klena as Dmitry, Ramin Karimloo as Gleb and Mary Beth Peil as Dowager Empress Maria, Caroline O’Connor as Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch and John Bolton as Vlad Popov.Rounding out the company are Zach Adkins, Sissy Bell, Lauren Blackman, Kathryn Boswell, Kyle Brown, Kristen Smith Davis, Janet Dickinson, Constantine Germanacos, Wes Hart, Ian Knauer, Ken Krugman, Dustin Layton, Shina Ann Morris, James A. Pierce III, Molly Rushing, Nicole Scimeca, Jennifer Smith, Johnny Stellard and Allison Walsh.Featuring a score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally, Anastasia tells the story of a brave young woman attempting to discover the mystery of her past. Photo credit: Facebook.The organizers of a natural disaster simulation exercise which took place in Paradise Valley Bath Estate this week, has described that exercise as fruitful and necessary.The Bath Estate Development Committee and the National Disaster Committee staged a simulation exercise geared at educating the public on the do’s and don’ts during any disaster.Member of the Bath Estate Development Committee Lindsay George explained that plans are also in the pipeline to stage the exercise in other villages.“We believe that it was fruitful and were able to get the media to document it properly. We believe that the community responded well. We have previously gone through a full week of training to sensitize people on the importance of conducting such an exercise”.Meanwhile, a member of the Disaster Preparedness Committee of Bath Estate Laura Frederick noted that the entire country would benefit if several communities imitate this initiative.“I have to say that I am thankful for the participation we received today. I hope that we continue to get the support from the public. I also would like to see more private sector people come onboard the initiative. RENFAG unhappy over conduct of 1963 squad

first_imgThe Retired National Footballers Association of Ghana (RENFAG) has expressed their displeasure over attempts by the 1963 Africa Cup Winning team, to make demands from the Ministry of Youth and Sports without their consent.A statement signed by Alhaji Ibrahim Sunday, National Chairman of RENFAG said, the recent reception organized by some private individuals for the 1963 squad to celebrate 50th anniversary since Ghana won the first ever Nations Cup, came as a surprise and shock to them.According to the statement, RENFAG which oversees the activities of all retired national players was not aware of the  reception as well as claims by the group that they were promised estate houses by government when they first on the Nations Cup in 1963.The statement described the conduct of the 1963 squad, as disappointing, since RENFAG had held meetings with the Minister of Youth and Sports over the plight members of the 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982 and had subsequently submitted a list to the ministry for the necessary action to be taken.“We were therefore unaware by the singular move by the 1963 squad and wish to disassociate ourselves from their conduct since it had raised several agitations from other winning members.“We are not against fulfilling promises to the members of the squad but the process must be well coordinated because there are other players.”last_img read more
